Women Entrepreneurs Outpacing Men in Business Growth

Women Entrepreneurs Outpacing Men in Business Growth

A recent report by Wells Fargo highlights a significant trend: over the past five years, women entrepreneurs have surpassed men in several key business metrics, including ownership growth, employment rates, and revenue increases. This surge is largely attributed to higher educational attainment among women and the expanding opportunities presented by digital platforms. Notably, Black women-owned businesses have experienced remarkable growth, driven by diversity initiatives and movements like Buy Black. However, challenges persist, as women-owned businesses remain underrepresented in higher revenue brackets, with only 2.4% generating over $20 million annually. Additionally, recent political shifts have impacted the momentum of diversity programs, and the U.S. Small Business Administration has faced cutbacks under the current administration, affecting grants to underserved areas.

Summary: Women entrepreneurs have outpaced men in business growth over the past five years, particularly in ownership and revenue metrics. Despite this progress, they continue to face challenges in achieving higher revenue levels and navigating recent political and funding changes.

Grumpy’s Guide To… The Subtle Art of Pretending You Know What’s Going On

Grumpy’s Guide To… The Subtle Art of Pretending You Know What’s Going On Let’s get one thing straight right out of the gate. If you came here looking for answers, you’ve taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque (or Augusta). This isn’t one of those tidy how-to guides where I give you five easy steps to cosmic clarity and inner peace. Nope. This is more like a survival manual for people who are pretty good at nodding, occasionally raise an eyebrow for effect, and somehow still get invited to meetings they don’t remember signing up for. Truth is, most of us are just making it up as we go and pretending we meant to. And guess what? That’s the art. See, I’ve spent a lot of time around smart people. Engineers. Inspectors. Consultants. Grandkids. And they all have one thing in common. None of them actually know what’s going on all the time. The good ones? They’ve just mastered the poker face. They’ve got the “hmm, yes, fascinating” look down cold. They’ve learned to walk into chaos with t...

The Frac Hand

The Frac Hand He showed up greener than springtime grass Boots too clean Heart beatin' too fast Didn’t know iron from elbow or hand Just a guy with a hammer and a head full of sand Them old boys barked and them old boys swore Dust in their teeth Boots worn to the core "Hit it, boy. Harder. Swing till it sings." So he swung and he prayed on them broke-down things By noon he was blistered By sundown he bled Still he swung that hammer Like it owed him his bread No "good job" came No pat on the back Just more busted iron and lines to stack An old roughneck, chaw drippin’ slow Watched him struggle like a calf in the snow Then one morning, with Hank Williams in the air He spit in the dust and said a small prayer "Didn't think you'd last, but maybe you can Keep swingin’, boy You might make Hand" He didn’t know then what them words really meant Didn’t know pride has a price And sweat pays the rent Respect ain’t given for being polite You earn it with...

Robots Aren’t Stealing Your Grandkids...Yet: 7 Surprising Advantages of Artificial Intelligence

Look, I get it. You hear “artificial intelligence” and immediately picture a robot uprising, your microwave talking back, or yet another thing your grandkids understand that you don’t. But before we all start hoarding canned goods and yelling at Siri, let’s take a calm, slightly grumpy look at what AI actually does for us... especially if you’ve got a few more birthdays under your belt than the average TikTok user. Turns out, AI isn’t just for Silicon Valley tech bros and creepy robot dogs. It’s quietly becoming your new best friend, if you let it. 1. Medical Help Without the Waiting Room Nonsense AI is helping doctors spot diseases faster and more accurately. It can analyze X-rays, flag dangerous trends in your blood pressure, and even remind you to take your meds (no more sticky notes on the fridge). No small thing when your memory sometimes plays hide-and-seek. 2. Customer Service That Doesn’t Hate You Tired of pressing “1” for English and “2” to scream at someone in the Phili...
